Topic: Fiber To The Premises–CFU’s High Speed Internet Upgrade

Abstract: Mr. Skubal will discuss the Cedar Falls Utilities “Fiber To The Premises” Upgrade project. This is a city-wide rebuild of the cable and internet infrastructure which will give customers added bandwidth and is scheduled to be completed in 2012. His presentation outline is shown below:

Speaker: William E. Skubal, Project Manager FTTP, is currently the Project Manager for the Fiber to the Premises Project which began in May of 2010. This is a $17.1 million project to replace the current Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial system with Fiber to the Premises inside the city limits of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Mr. Skubal joined the Cedar Falls Utilities in 2006. From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Skubal was the Electric Operations Manager for the Cedar Falls Utilities where his primary responsibilities were management of electric transmission, distribution and substation engineering.

From 2001 to 2006, he was a Maintenance Supervisor for Deere & Company at the Waterloo Foundry where his responsibilities included engineering electrical and control upgrades to equipment in the facility and supervised 12 maintenance electricians.

From 1990 to 2001, he was employed by MidAmerican Energy where he was a Distribution Engineer and an Engineering Supervisor and was involved with electric meter and distribution transformer specifications for MidAmerican.

In 1990, Mr. Skubal received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University.
