WATERLOO TECHNICAL SOCIETY

Wednesday 12th, September 2018

Cedar Falls “Clarion Inn” Against the Grain Restaurant

Topic: Tiny House Project at UNI

The UNI Tiny House Project is a culminating project that includes students from Construction Management, Technology Management, Tech & Engineering Education, and Interior Design.

The interior design students designed both the kitchen and main storage wall. The project is intended to challenge students in the realms of teamwork, creativity, project management, means and methods of building construction.

To date, the Tiny House Project has produced 5 houses, one donated outright, another purchased by an in-house faculty member, another purchased by an interested buyer, and two procured and purchased by an owner who specifically sought out UNI's services.

The first house featured a pull-out queen-sized bed that doubles as a couch and completely disappears under the raised kitchen floor when not needed.
