Technology in the Sign Industry

Topic: The role of technology in the sign industry will be highlighted.  Topics of discussion will include lighting technology, electronic message centers, structural weld detailing, manufacturing advancements, improvements in equipment, and advancement in construction materials.  Additional information will be presented on the skills and technologies that are being displaced as a result of the advancements in the industry

Speaker:  Tom Nagle, Operations Director for Nagle Signs Inc. in Waterloo, obtained a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1998, and MS and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2003 and 2007.  He is a registered PE in the State of Illinois and has worked at Caterpillar in Peoria, IL as a Test Engineer in powertrain research and development as well as working as a Research Assistant in the Newmark Laboratory at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, and a Structural Engineer for Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. in Northbrook, IL.

Note: Checks to purchase meals from the Clarion Inn should be made out to “Clarion Inn.”
