Speaker:Dave Martin, Special Projects Engineer, Cedar Falls Utilities

Dave is a native of Iowa having grown up in Charles City.

Dave received his Chemical Engineering Degree from the University of Iowa, and worked for Alliant Energy for 10 years before coming to the Cedar Falls Utilities. During his years at the utilities he has held the positions of Plant Engineer, Environmental Affairs Coordinator, Special Projects Coordinator, Director of Customer Service & Business Development and Acting General Manager.

Program:Cedar Falls Utilities is a municipal utility company servicing the city of Cedar Falls. The utility is unique in that it has several local generating facilities including coal-fired power-plant located near 12th Street, and a natural-gas-fired peaking plant located on the south side of the city.

Dave will discuss wind power and bio-mass energy generation with an emphasis on his current project of converting the Cedar Falls Utilities Streeter Unit to biomass-fired.
