Program:Digital television (DTV) makes high definition television (HDTV) possible. HDTV provides CD-quality sound plus a more detailed and crystal clear image; in fact the image clarity can be five times that displayed on today's standard definition TV sets. The viewing experience is enhanced by the wide screen presentation that is similar to a motion picture screen.

Digital Television also allows more channels and services to be available. Several standard definition channels can be broadcast where only one can be broadcast today. This way, specialty channels can meet the educational and entertainment needs of diverse audiences.

Bill will provide an overview of the history, technology, politics, and timelines that are advancing both Iowa Public Television(www.iptv.org) and Digital Television Technology.
