Open Source Software & The Linux Operating System

Speaker:Tony Geerts received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from UNI in 1997 and is a Certified Public Accountant(CPA). While working as an accountant, he became interested in the information technology field and is currently finishing a BA in Computer Science.

Tony works at Dyton Media, Inc. as their System Administrator and Senior Programmer. He has been active in the Cedar Valley Linux Users' Group as President and as an advocate for the Linux Operating System. Tony has contributed to the open source community by giving public presentations on various topics and providing answers about Linux.

Program:Open Source Software is becoming a compelling force in the information technology world. It is more than just the Linux operating system. Open Source Software is a solution to use in your home, business, or enterprise without the cost of intrusive licensing agreements.

This presentation will include a demonstration of Linux and other software you can use on your desktop followed by a discussion of how it is used in network environments. 

Price:$11.00 per person (includes tax, tip & room rent.)
